#Project 32 Explained...

#Project 32

A tragedy occurred in January 2014...I turned 32. Now whilst 32 may not be either a particularly famous age for feeling 'old', or indeed actually 'old' at all I took a little time to re-assess (in a corny NY resolutions sort of a way) what I really want to get out of any available spare time I may scrape from a fairly full work schedule. After some reflection I set myself 3 goals around the number that had irked me into action...32!

One aspiration was musical based, one to do with penning a short James Bond story and the third (and most relevant to this site) was to take 32 great pictures this year. Everything is of course relative to talent and so I am not expecting to suddenly become Ansel Adams or Charlie Waite, but I could set myself the goal of producing 32 of the best pictures I have taken to date. The publicising of this goal to anyone who cares to listen will hopefully act as a suitable motivation for me to really see it through in case I fall back on the old excuses of "I'm too busy at work etc".

It sounds fairly achievable (not sure I'll feel this way if I keep doing this and need seventy great pics at the age of 70!) but really it will require some extra effort to get out of bed early, brave all weather conditions and drive around the country to search out new locations and find compelling light and compositions to push my game up a level. The more I photograph the more I see the flaws in what I've taken beforehand so hopefully the results should get better and better.

I will be keeping a blog of my #Project 32 images and the stories behind them, including the near misses and hopefully some interesting yarns about my trips into unknown locations to seek out the next picture in #Project 32...
